How do i find my computer name?

If one of our technicians asks for your computer name we can either use the IT Eye Ltd Asset tag number if you have one attached to your computer or if not you can do the following: –

For most Windows Machines: –

  1. Press the Windows Key (looks like a flag to the left of the Space Bar) along with the Pause / Break key (Usually just to the right of the Function Keys)
  2. On the View basic information about your computer page, see the Full computer name under the section Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings

For Windows 10: – 

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Security > System. (You can also right click the start button and click System)

Windows 8: –

  1. Press the Windows logo key + X to see a list of commands and options.
  2. Click System.
    The computer name appears under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings.

Windows 7: –

  • Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
    The computer name appears under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings.

Mac: –

  • Choose Apple menu > System Preferences > Sharing.
    The computer name appears at the top of the window.
